Another Day In Paradise

Sue Yule has been building her artistic career with Art From The Margins (AFTM) since 2017 and in 2018 was recognised with an Emerging Artist Award as part of the AFTM Outsider Art Awards. In 2019 Sue was invited to participate in an 8-month mentorship by two professional artists with the outcome of creating a group exhibition with other AFTM Outsider Awards recipients and painted a group mural on the side of the AFTM building located at 136 Brunswick Street Fortitude Valley.

AFTM further supports Sue’s personal development as an artist by developing her first solo exhibition ‘A Year in My Suburb’ and recognise this as an integral part in moving towards her goals to becoming a professional artist. The artwork below, Another Day In Paradise, is just one exquisite oil painting in the collection of “A Year in My Suburb”.

“Watching the seasons come and go, some things remaining the same and many others changing. The bird of paradise plants are in my neighbour’s garden and surrounding the village shops, They embody my years spent in Forest Lake. They have always been there with their striking leaves and quirky flowers, leaving me with the conclusion it must be my own piece of paradise.” – Sue Yule
